OVERVIEW

Modern Treasury builds payment operations solutions. Our tools automate the full cycle of money movement—from payment initiation, through approvals, to reconciliation—and are accessible through a web application and APIs. Our platform powers some of the most innovative companies in the world like Gusto, Marqueta, BlockFi and Pipe, reconciling more than $2 billion in payments monthly.

The core platform at Modern Treasury sits between our customers and their banks. In the same way that Twilio abstracted away the complexity of working with communication networks, we have built an easy-to-use, common interface into the banking system. Our customers use our products to do things like move money to or from their users, automate back-office work, and record their transaction ledgers. The companies that can use Modern Treasury move over $750 trillion a year via bank payments, as compared to only $2 trillion per year on card payments.

YOU WILL

Modern Treasury is hiring a Vertical GM to join our Revenue Team. You will help us create, execute and manage a vertical specific go to market motion. You’ll develop a multi-channel strategy including partnerships, events, community building, outbound sales, content and paid among others to generate awareness and demand for Modern Treasury’s solutions in a chosen vertical. You’ll own the full pipeline for that vertical starting with awareness and building into lead generation as the key outcome. Given success to date, we’re keen on exploring Marketplaces, Crypto, Fintech, Real Estate, Insurance and Healthcare as our first verticals.

This is a unique opportunity to be a founding team member and define what success means for the role. You’ll work in close collaboration with our marketing, growth, product and sales teams and over time, you’ll become the in-house expert for that vertical which means you’ll collaborate with product, marketing, sales and customer success teams on vertical needs and positioning. 

We are looking for someone that can develop a strong functional understanding about our products and the payments space overall. You should also be genuinely curious about SaaS and payments business models. The role is best suited for someone with experience across partner marketing, demand generation, community building, and feels confident activating a multi-pronged approach to making Modern Treasury the default Payment Operations solution in those verticals.

Above all, we are looking for an individual with a winning mix of curiosity and creativity; genuine interest in becoming an expert on technical products; comfort managing multiple concurrent projects; a love of writing; ability to flourish in an ambiguous and fast-paced startup environment; and wholehearted empathy for our customers and their users. 

YOU MAY BE A FIT FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU

  • Have 4+ years of experience in demand generation, community building, marketing, investing or product for B2B SaaS.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication.

  • Growth mindset and energized by the challenge of building a program from the ground up.

  • Ability to travel 2-3 times per quarter for events and conferences (we are flexible to support to accommodate personal needs)

  • BA or BS required.

WEEK BY WEEK

During your first week you will:

  • Onboard with our team.

  • Start learning our product inside out.

  • Develop an understanding of our key customer personas.

  • Read our favorite industry primers. 

  • Build an understanding of our customers and go-to-market motion.

During your first six weeks you will:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of Modern Treasury products.

  • Go deep on our messaging, positioning and pricing.

  • Shadow customer calls with our sales and bank partnerships teams. 

  • Explore key use cases of the Modern Treasury platform. 

  • Build your 3-6-12 month roadmap on how to approach your vertical

During your first six months you will:

  • Become an expert on our value proposition and the competitive landscape for your vertical

  • Execute first experiments in vertical, build your pipeline and land your first leads and customers.

  • Collaborate with Marketing teams to deliver vertical specific case studies, landing pages / copy for the website, events collateral, etc to support your vertical strategy.
