Snapdocs is a rapidly growing company backed by investors like Sequoia, Y Combinator, F-Prime and Tiger Global. We're an innovative team taking on the extensive mortgage market, bringing scalable and sophisticated software to a pillar of the US economy that still relies on fax machines and manila envelopes.


Snapdocs was founded in 2013 on the central premise that buying a house requires not only a lot of paperwork but also coordination amongst many different parties. The complexity of lenders, real estate agents, home sellers, home buyers, title companies and more working together often means the process of buying and selling a house can be long, inefficient and costly.  Snapdocs is changing that by building the digital infrastructure that connects lenders, settlement services and borrowers together to digitize mortgage closings at scale.

It’s an exciting time at Snapdocs. Our customers are on pace to close millions of mortgage transactions in 2021, and Snapdocs now touches nearly 20% of all US real estate transactions, representing over $60B in mortgage value. VP of Engineering Position Overview

The VP of Engineering position at Snapdocs is a multidimensional role that serves as a member of the executive team reporting to the CEO. This is a unique opportunity to design and drive the end-to-end technology roadmap and strategy, act as the internal and external evangelist of Snapdocs’ market-leading technology suite, and to lead and continue to build a world-class Engineering organization. 

Our VP of Engineering is the bridge between C-level executive decision-making and technical ownership of the products, systems, and architecture. In this role, you will have three pronged responsibilities:

  1. People - Build an extraordinary, efficient and scalable engineering org
  2. Business - Act as a strategic thought partner and owner of driving business outcomes, particularly from a product innovation standpoint
  3. Technical - Lead a team with technical expertise that ensures our platform meets both short term needs but also moves us towards a long term vision

As our VP you will sit on the Executive Team and be heavily involved in the strategy and execution of the business operations.

You will act as:

A Big Thinker preoccupied with anticipating new technology so the company can beat competitors to and in the market. The team you will lead will build products that meet and create demand.  This position crafts and articulates a compelling vision of the future for our technology roadmap.

A Great Leader directing a team of over 120 experienced and talented team members in Data Science & Engineering, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Quality Assurance, Infrastructure & DevOps, and Information Security & IT.  You grow and cultivate a great Engineering organization, lead with empathy, act as a culture carrier, and actively engage your team in their development of high performers and move quickly on performance quality issues to ensure your team is staffed with the best talent in our market space.

A Strong Partner working closely with our executives in Product, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Legal to build the highest quality products that differentiate Snapdocs in the market and are in service to our goal of unquestionable market dominance. 

A Skilled Operator who understands our broader business goals and financial targets.  You are fluent with our metrics and how Engineering works in lockstep with other functions in a highly collaborative environment to drive results and a high throughput culture.  You don’t just accept requirements from the organization and build them, but rather actively participate in the dialog to shape them.

A Business Steward who designs and executes against company goals and thinks creatively and presents clear and compelling solutions to ensure we innovatively achieve our goals. You can think autonomously and organize and bring forward a strategic and supporting tactical plan of your own design that demonstrates a tight alignment and understanding of the broader company priorities.

A Technology Evangelist representing Snapdocs to current and prospective customers and partners, an internal facing leader to our employees, and a market presence to industry players. You foster a culture of innovation and creativity and ensure we are not only designing for today, but the future as well.

History and Desired Experience:

Over your 10+ years leading engineering teams at an executive level in high-growth, B2B SaaS companies you have clearly proven your ability to lead from the front as both a coach and player when needed. You have a self-directed, start-where-you stand mentality and ability to conceptualize, design, and implement strategic and tactical plans that clearly align to enterprise level company and product objectives. In addition to your considerable technical expertise, you have past experience engaging with external parties, notably customers and partners and able to articulate a compelling vision of the future and value proposition with clear product differentiation. And, of course, you have significant experience and validated outcomes of building, developing, and leading a high-growth, experienced and highly skilled engineering team, taking the team members and organizational design through multiple stages of growth.

Position Location: Flexible, preference for the Bay Area.  We cannot consider candidates based internationally, in Hawaii, Alaska, or Montana at this time.
