We started Zip because we saw the challenges companies had using outdated 20 year old software to manage hundreds of millions of dollars every year. We graduated from YC as part of the S20 batch. We’ve since raised $37m from YC, YC Continuity and a select group of strategic B2B SaaS angels, including the cofounders of Looker (sold to Google for $2.6b), Mixpanel, and Algolia.
Your Role
We’re growing quickly and need your help: we launched in early 2020 and are growing by 40+% every month. We have a wide product surface area, covering request management, no code workflow builders, customer-facing reporting dashboards, connections to ticketing systems, integrations with financial systems, B2B payment processing and more.
As a software engineer you will be responsible for building Zip’s core products and architecture. You will ship features that will be immediately used by our users, and will work with a tight-knit team that values open communication and cross-functional collaboration. We move quickly to solve a wide range of complex technical and product challenges. While we are an experienced team that can provide constant guidance and mentorship, we value engineers who can autonomously scope and solve difficult technical challenges.
Your Role
We’re looking for a Sr. QA Engineer to join us as our first QA hire to systematically improve and maintain a high quality bar for our product, as well as to start to grow and build the QA team as the company further grows. The ideal candidate will have a background in a technical field, will have strong Test Engineering or QA experience, and has worked with 30+ person engineering teams. You are methodical, a self-starter, and passionate about quality which is key to the growth and success of a product.
You Will
- Own and manage all QA test plans, and make sure they are up-to-date with our fast product release cycles
- Develop and update automated tests for Zip’s evergreen flows
- Run daily manual QAs as part of Zip’s daily release process
- Plan, develop and execute tests on new complex features before launch to ensure high quality bar
- Create and support test dashboards/reports
- Work closely with engineering on troubleshooting
- Identify gaps and opportunities to further improve quality
- As the seed member, hire and grow the QA team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years in quality Engineering and/or test engineering experience
- Experience in Python, Javascript, Java or equivalent coding language
- Experience with QA process and methodologies
- Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools & automation frameworksÂ
- Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Haves
- Experience thriving in a fast-moving and ambiguous environment that demands constant self-prioritization is a plus
- Experience in project management approaches, tools and phases of a project life cycle is a plus
- Knowledge of Cypress
