STATUS: Full-Time/ Exempt LOCATION: Hybrid, San Francisco Bay Area or Denver, CO

Meru Health (name inspired by the documentary Meru). We just raised Series B, we've hired over 165 people since Nov 2020 and just launched a new vertical within our org. WHAT TO EXPECT: We are looking for our first US Controller to join our Accounting team! You will be reporting directly to our CFO & working closely with various key stakeholders across the organization. You will be responsible for building the accounting team, creating processes, and standing up systems to help the company record and understand its financial health. Most importantly, you are aligned with our mission and values. To be successful in this role, you have "been there done that" when it comes to being a Controller. You are an outside of the box thinker with a high level of emotional intelligence, knowing when to have boundaries and when to flex with competing demands. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE (WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE) At 90 Days: Report reliable financial statements to guide strategic business decisions At 6 Months: Create controls for key business processes At 1-Year: Complete first private-company audit

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS (WHAT YOU WILL DO + SKILLS REQUIRED TO DO IT) Alignment with our values and passion for our mission Oversees the monthly close process and is accountable for achieving our target for days to close. Ensures consistent compliance of corporate accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting standards. Involved in the global revenue recognition review. Hands on managing accounting operations, monthly/quarterly accounting close and preparation of financial statements. Optimizes and automates accounting processes to drive a faster monthly/quarterly close cycle. Experience with Quickbooks and Netsuite. Works with the team to assess and report status of existing accounting and reporting standards, procedures and internal controls to identify areas of improvements. Contributes to remediation plans when deficiencies are noted in testing of internal controls. Partners effectively with other finance team members and non-accounting functions to drive improved controls and process enhancements. Makes decisions, prioritizes effectively and meets deadlines while maintaining the highest level of standards for completeness and accuracy. Enables increased level of employee job satisfaction and employee engagement through leadership, coaching and development of remote teams.

FOUNDATIONAL KNOWLEDGE OR PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE Proven experience leading to a high-performing accounting and control organization. Leadership experience in a software or global technology company. Strategic vision and best-practices to guide the team. Tactical approach to enable effective implementation. The individual will demonstrate strong business judgment applied to routine and complex financial and accounting issues. Professional curiosity when addressing business and accounting issues. Demonstrated ability to work with investor facing teams to showcase the company's financial results. International experience working with overseas financial operations. 10+ years of experience dealing with complex accounting matters. A CPA along with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent. Proven success as a Controller of a complex business entity, and ability to handle the financial accounting and financial reporting. Significant technical accounting background. Willing to get into the details to understand business processes at a deep level with the ability to drive efficiencies. Proven ability to drive change in accounting processes driving faster monthly/quarterly close while improving employee engagement. Self-motivated team player who can credibly communicate with and relate to people at all levels in the finance and accounting organization, with experience to mentor the team. Demonstrated ability to work across culturally and to succeed in a dynamic environment.

Our 12-week mobile treatment program includes mindfulness and CBT practices, HRV Biofeedback, sleep medicine, nutritional psychiatry, and daily remote therapist support on weekdays. We've proven the efficacy of our approach in 4 peer-reviewed studies and we have two additional papers in peer review.
